With the spirited air of summer just over the horizon, the playful spring/summer designs of Melbourne label Leonard St. are a reminder that festivals and seaside frolicking are just around the corner. A sprightly mix of bright prints and plain key separates makes up the latest offering from designer Amanda McCarthy, inspired by her love of print, colour and beautiful fabrics.
Having studied sculpture and fine art, Amanda’s design process for Leonard St. pieces commences with the line of a garment, followed by structure and form, closing with the palette and print. Making all of the bespoke prints by hand herself, Amanda casts a unique, eclectic collection into the Australian style scene twice a year. Named after her favourite street in East London, Leonard St. the label aims to capture the vibrant aesthetic of London style through silhouette and colour.
In this spring/summer collection, find floral, bird and fox prints and lashings of mustard, red and navy throughout. The fun fox print adorns skinny jeans, relaxed t-shirts, dresses and even shoes, while cuts range from cool and floaty to well tailored.
