Fatherhood explored in new magazine Kindling Quarterly

Upon becoming new dads, David Michael Perez and P. August Heffner found discussing parenting and fatherhood quite tricky terrain. The pair went in search of beautiful editorial guidance, but came up empty handed, with current depictions of dads in the media leaving them feeling uninspired and detached from their own experiences.

And so they decided to untangle the dimensions and stereotypes of fatherhood themselves, piecing together new magazine, Kindling Quarterly. Highlighting creative individuals whose work and lives are inseparable from their role as a parent, Kindling Quarterly pairs beautiful design with thoughtful content, creating a dialogue about fatherhood that is currently missing from our cultural landscape.

Through essays, interviews, editorials, art and photography, Kindling focuses on fathers as subjects, yet the publication will appeal to anyone interested in art, creativity and community. Independently published, the magazine will launch this weekend in Brooklyn, New York. Issue 1 features Australian grizzly farm man Rohan Anderson alongside Brooklyn-based illustrator, artist, and wallpaper designer Dan Funderburgh and musician Shawn James Seymour.
