Jenny Kee adds to her Art of the Scarf collection

Adored in both the art and fashion realms, Jenny Kee has been injecting wardrobes with colour for 40 years.

Since presenting a career-long retrospective and launching the Art of the Scarf project in 2012 – her first runway show since the 1980s – Jenny has been reissuing archival prints on silk, with the latest rebirth the Goddess scarf of 1989. Available as part of the artist’s new website, the current collection of scarves dances in the wind online, courtesy of a spot of digital animation by art director Marcus King.

Australian flora forms a chaotic collage with exotic birds, fish and opals amongst the scarf designs, with one scarf design being constructed from up to 30 individual artworks from the artist’s own brush. Jenny sees the silk scarf as a way of allowing art to be worn on the body – though we wouldn’t dismiss the opportunity to hang these intricate creations upon the wall as well. The website also features a detailed history on the vibrant Blue Mountains-based designer, including insight into her inspirations and artistic processes, as well as a visual diary of past photoshoots.
