The bold garb of Jacquemus arrives at Blonde Venus
A selection of bold garb from emerging French label Jacquemus has arrived at Blonde Venus, and has us wiggling into all manner of oversized, colour-blocked pieces ahead of spring’s arrival.
The latest collection from designer Simon Porte Jacquemus is entitled Le femme enfant, translating to ‘the child woman’. Offering a playful mix of textural bubbles, sheer panelling and pops of colour, the collection continues to weave the designer’s signature exaggerated shapes and mannish tailoring from one piece to the next. Boxy coats and slouchy sets hint to a naïve child dressing in adult clothes, while cheeky sheer t-shirt dresses come splashed with neoprene abstract shapes of cartoon-like volumes.
Simon finds inspiration in sunshine, fruit and Marseille of the 1980s to craft each new season, with a collection idea commencing with an imagined story about a real woman, and keeping a strong image of this story in mind, Simon begins to sketch. Pair these pert outfits with a summer visor, crisp white sneakers and matching socks. Discover more of the designer’s story in this video here.
