I Used to Skate Once merges music and art
Skateboarders, art lovers and music fans will descend upon Fortitude Valley tonight, Thursday June 26, as the 10th anniversary event of I Used to Skate Once sprawls across two venues in Ann Street.
One decade ago, the legends behind local boutiques The Outpost and Blonde Venus put their heads together to hatch up a unique art show that invited local, interstate and international creatives to work their magic on skateboard canvases. Ten years later, I Used to Skate Once has become an annual favourite on the local calendar, with more than 350 artists and 24 bands injecting their creative input into the art exhibition and live music event.
A special anniversary event will be held in two venues in Fortitude Valley tonight, with The Zoo showing off the embellished skateboards as well as bands Goon Sax, Statler & Waldorf and Roku Music, while downstairs EXIT electronic music and visuals will blast through the old Blonde Venus store. Entry is free.
