TWE go skateboarding day 2014

Go Skateboarding Day 2014 rolls in to Brisbane

Skateboarders may cop a fair amount of hostility when cruising the city streets, but this Saturday June 21 the skating community will mingle and monster walk to honour the pursuit.

From the little groms wrapped up in knee pads and helmets to the pros nailing the half-pipes, skateboarders around the world will be grabbing their boards and hitting the streets this Saturday June 21, to celebrate Go Skateboarding Day 2014. The annual celebration invites skaters to blow off their commitments and revel in the gratification and elation of a good skate session.

Go Skateboarding Day was born in southern California back in 2003, when a handful of celebratory barbecues were held to toast the culture and spirit of skating. The annual event has now ballooned around the world, with several celebrations being planned locally in the Sunshine State. Brisbane Skateboarding Association (BSA) is inviting Brisbane skateboarders to brave the ledges and S-rails of Red Tile at Cathedral Square on the corner of Ann and Wharf Streets from 1:00–3:00 pm this Saturday, followed by a barbecue and skate at Paddington Skate Park from 3:30 pm. GLOBE will also be hosting an event, with giveaways, drinks and good times at Pizzey Park Skate Complex on the Gold Coast from 12:00–4:00 pm.
