The smooth skin of a banana, the rough outer coat of a pineapple and the porous texture of an orange peel may inspire only hunger in the average viewer. But for Melbourne-based design duo Erika Zorzi and Matteo Sangalli, these little snippets of everyday life acted as the muse for their colourful homewares collection, Fruit Wares.

Originally hailing from Milan, Italy, the multidisciplinary designers behind Mathery Studio have handcrafted a range of vessels by first slicing up their favourite fruit skins, reassembling them in the form of bowls, jars and vases, and then casting them in colourful resin. Formerly known as Fruit Ninja, the Fruit Wares collection includes a pineapple serving bowl, orange jar, avocado vase, banana bowl and rockmelon coasters.
