The Collective Markets held near the banks of the river at South Bank is a creative hub for Brisbane’s eco-driven, quirky and eclectic entrepreneurs. It is a place that both market goers and market stallholders love to attend with ideas being shared, friendships formed and trade in abundance.

One such creative setting up stall at The Collective Markets is Kerry Jenkins from Flame Tree Aromatics. A former nurse, Kerry found that when her children were young and both sleeping for hours in the middle of the day, there was a fire in her belly to be productive. A homey person and a lover of ambience, Kerry always used candles for gentle light as well as for the beautiful fragrance they emit throughout a room. Kerry started making candles and didn’t look back, and is now in her fourth year of Flame Tree Aromatics.

Hand poured, Flame Tree Aromatics candles are made from Australian sourced 100 percent vegetable-based soy wax and cotton-thread wicks. Having children, low toxicity was important to Kerry, so these products enable her candles to be biodegradable and sustainable. Leaving no black sooty residue, longer burn times and the safety of low melt-point is the key to these clean candles. The Flame Tree Aromatics candles meet a variety of demands coming in melts, travel tins, glass jars and wooden holders across a range of fragrances including coconut lime, sweet pea and jasmine, vanilla pear, lavender, rose, wild frangipani, tiger lily blossom, burnt fig and cassis, and lime, basil and mandarin. Kerry is constantly creating and on the lookout for new ideas for storing her candles, so spring will see the introduction of a new fragrance, Bohemian Summer, as well as new copper vessels to house these ambient creations.

Flame Tree Aromatics are at The Collective Markets each Sunday and the bi-monthly Brisbane Twilight Market.
