TWE Everingham & Watson

Everingham & Watson pops out of Newstead

When a retail venture opens a pop-up shop or new permanent residence, a launch party to celebrate and welcome the crowds is sure to ensue.

In the spirit of popping up, Everingham & Watson is hosting a popping-out affair to mark the closing of its Newstead showroom. The lease is up and the colourful E&W nook in Newstead is having to pack up house and move on to new terrain. The showroom will be staying open late this Thursday March 13 for a last hurrah, which will also feature an exhibition of screenprints by local Brisbane artist Stephen Mok. Everingham & Watson’s last day of trade will be Friday March 14, though the full range will continue to be available online.

In other retail movements, Atavist Books in Winn Lane has sadly closed its doors, soon to be replaced by another paperie venture. On James Street, Witchery and Scanlan Theodore have shifted storefronts, while the closing of all Ksubi stores nationwide sees its James Street location left an empty shell. Title bookstore on James Street has also closed down, but vinyl and cult fiction lovers rejoice – the South Bank store is still trading up a storm. And we’re eagerly awaiting stepping through the new doors of Blonde Venus on Robertson Street in the coming weeks.
