Some people are notorious overachievers – their bedrooms lined with ribbons and trophies and their skills too numerous to list. At only 24 years of age, Elissa McGowan has already presented a collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia and is stitching up a fast-moving career in the fashion industry.
In 2013, Elissa was chosen by Vogue Italia as the Vogue Talent – the top graduate from the Fashion Design Studio – and her work has caught the eyes of some of the world’s best fashion designers, so you can only imagine how brimming with awards her pool room must be. Having recently graduated from East Sydney TAFE, Elissa is now dedicating her time to growing her self-titled fashion label.
The young designer’s interest in textile development and exploring surface techniques has gained her recognition for her label’s distinctive fabric development. For her past two collections, Elissa has developed unique fabrics with European textile mills.
The upcoming spring/summer collection from Elissa McGowan places emphasis on delicate fabrics, soft colours, and simple cuts in comfortable, lounge styles.
