Brisbane Bike Week is encouraging everyone to take part in a range of events celebrating the benefits of cycling and spreading praise of the pedal.

From April 25 or May 3, thousands of bikes will take to the streets of Brisbane for the annual Bike Week celebrations. Bike Week has become an institution since its inception in 1990, and over the past 25 years thousands of cyclists have clocked up countless kilometres in celebration. Road racers, fixed-speed cruisers and BMX bandits will unite and participate in a program of events happening all across Brisbane.

Events range from epic mountain rides to simple ride to work events, but rest assured there are events for Tour de France aspirants and laid back roamers alike. Of particular note on the events calendar is a few popular events that are always well attended every year. 10-Speed Dating invites single cyclists along for a gentle ride around West End, ending at a local bar where the mingling can truly begin. Friday May 1 sees fashion-forward riders participate in the popular Style Over Speed Ride, which kicks off from King George Square. Wrapping up Bike Week is the Great Brisbane Bike Ride on Sunday May 3, which offers a choice of three distance rides that include a 2.3 kilometre ride up Mount Coot-tha. Don your tightest lycra, grab your helmet, dust off the old two wheeler and take part in one of the many events happening all over town.
