Bike Bestie fosters local cycling community

Whether you’re a new recruit to the cycling world or you’ve been hooked since the days of Spokey Dokeys, a new local business has all your two-wheeled needs covered.

How’s your relationship with your two-wheeled chum? If it’s been a while between dates, Brisbane’s Bike Bestie is here to help improve the relationship. Run by bike whisperer Emma Best, the small business not only offers custom builds and servicing, but also regular workshops and group rides to help educate local ladyfolk on bike maintenance and safety.

If you haven’t been on a bike since the days of hurtling down your driveway with streamers on your handlebars, it could be time to get your feet back on the pedals. Trade your pollution-puffing car for an eco-friendly bike made from locally made and recycled parts, and take advantage of our city’s many scenic bikeways. Bike Bestie has teamed up with Bicycle Queensland to offer the BicyGals program, which offers a range of loop rides and commuting and equipment workshops. Emma’s Cycle Away – Spokes Women maintenance sessions are also held each month, with the next scheduled for Saturday March 22. Alternatively, interested ladies and businesses can contact Bike Bestie directly to organise their own group event. Stayed tuned to Emma’s Facebook page for information on upcoming events.
