Koky Saly has spent the past seven years of his life helping to improve the living conditions of children living in rural areas of Cambodia. After moving to Australia at the age of three, Koky and his sister Sophia grew up with the desire to give back to their native country, founding BabyTree Projects to help build schools across the country. In 2014 Sophia passed away, leaving her car to Koky and a final request that he use the proceeds to continue their dream of helping children in Cambodia. From this point Koky transformed BabyTree into BeeKeeper, creating a range of backpacks that the sale of which helps send Cambodian children to school.
The BeeKeeper backpacks are made from high-quality materials salvaged from discarded shirts and textiles, recycling as much as possible to avoid clogging up landfill. Each backpack is unique thanks to the up-cycling nature of the manufacturing process, which transforms donated belongings into durable bags. Each run of bags is limited, meaning that you are unlikely to see the same backpack on another pair of shoulders. Also of note, for every backpack sold BeeKeeper sends a child to English class for a whole year.
