Wandering Elephant joins the street food scene

A new food truck is now gracing the streets of Brisbane, tempting our current street food fetish with even more offerings. Wandering Elephant is serving up a melting pot of Asian foodstuffs, from Vietnamese to Malaysian.

Inspired while travelling through Asia by the community that forms around street food vendors, Ben Carter returned to Brisbane to set up Wandering Elephant with co-owner Anthony Bartzis. The pair met while studying architecture and both have backgrounds in hospitality. Ben’s parents own a Thai restaurant on the Sunshine Coast, while Anthony’s family owned Cafe San Marco at South Bank before the floods of 2011.

The food truck (read: trailer) will be primarily stationed in West End, with plans to roam about parks, markets and other thoroughfares amongst our urban landscape (the lads popped up in Dutton Park this week too). All meals are priced under $10, with the fresh, gourmet Asian street food offerings including Vietnamese Spring Rolls, Indonesian Satay Beef and Chicken, Malaysian Ayam Goreng, Malaysian Beef Rendang and Thai Yum Na. Keep an eye out on Facebook or Twitter for daily locations.
