Pho Hoang Gia relaunches as VietnamHOUSE in Fortitude Valley

Wickham Street’s Pho Hoang Gia may have closed for business, but the owners haven’t gone anywhere – instead relaunching an expanded and renovated new restaurant, VietnamHOUSE.

Try to summarise the history of Vietnam and your story will be studded with mentions of other cultures, veering off to America, France, China and beyond. As these nations all made their controversial marks on Vietnam’s historical timeline, they also influenced the country’s cuisine, adding layers of complexity by introducing new flavours and ingredients. Wickham Street’s new pho, steak and barbecue restaurant VietnamHOUSE has taken all of these culinary influences into consideration, offering a blended menu to appease a wide gamut of tastes.

Owner Hoa Nguyen has shut the doors to Vietnamese eatery Pho Hoang Gia, taken over the space next door and treated the expanded venue to a fresh lick of paint and a vibrant new fit-out. The tweaked menu reflects the restaurant’s aesthetic change, now meandering from barbecue classics like rump steak with seasonal vegetables to Vietnamese vermicelli salad bowls, rice paper wraps and the signature beef pho. The renovated venue is currently waiting on a liquor licence, so BYO your bottles for now or make do with the speciality Italian soda on offer.
