As autumn sets foot in Brisbane and winter waves from a safe distance, a cosy cabin boasting cups of steaming hot coffee, craft beer and cocktails is inviting you indoors. Stones Corner’s new Timber Cabin & Coffee House is the upshot of a partnership between Green Door Cafe and Gallery’s Tracey Larrigan and Sling’s Dustin Davis, merging the best of both venues to offer a charming new bar, cafe and gallery.

Drop in from 7:00 am Tuesday to Sunday for the all-day menu, which jumps from The Lumberjack Breakfast of eggs with shortcut bacon, pork and parsley chipolata, tomato, mushroom, haloumi and baby spinach dotted with pesto oil, tomato relish and a thick slice of sourdough, to the sweet American hotcake stack drizzled with bush maple syrup, warm caramel, banana and berries. Sate the daylight belly rumbles with snacks like savoury muffins and caramel slice, or more substantial nosh along the lines of chorizo dogs and old-school sliders. The evening tapas menu is still on its way but will continue the Canadian theme with share plates loaded with salmon and assorted nibbles.

The new bar brings Sling’s cocktail expertise to Stones Corner, with a well-crafted list boasting combinations like chilli-infused vodka with cherry brandy, wild berry syrup, cranberry and lychee juice, served in a coupette and topped with toasted marshmallow foam. If tipples like The Wilderness Mojito, Cabin Fever or Alpine Snow don’t take your fancy, grab a jug of sangria or Pimm’s, or a Burleigh Brewing Co. pale ale or Sunshack apple cider. Slide into a timber booth in the shadows or check out the Something About Beards photography exhibition in the art gallery upstairs.
