Cosy vibes aplenty at new Nundah bar The Village Social

Nundah’s newest drinks haunt is a cosy and intimate space that boasts the best of old and new world aesthetics, perfect for a getaway from the weekly hustle and bustle.

Like Sigrid Thornton’s character in Sea Change, Jono Walker underwent a similar lifestyle metamorphosis, switching from his career in sailing to become a bar owner. The Village Social is the is the result of half a year of work, converted from a former retail space in the heart of Nundah to become an inspired venue that acts as a casual hangout and weekend drinks destination. After stripping the space of its former identity, Jono and venue manager Doug Simpson set about turning it into their dream venue – exposing the natural ceiling and brick walls while adding recycled timber panelling to a custom-built bar, installing creative light fixtures and hanging beams and vines from the ceiling alongside a wooden boat – harkening back to Jono’s previous life sailing boats around the world.

The team has taken great care to stock the bar with a plentiful array of drinks. Four beer taps will be pouring popular brews from 4 Pines, Fortitude Brewing, Holgate and Burleigh Brewing, with a comprehensive range of bottled beers also available. A selection of wines from Australian and overseas plus a great range of spirits and unique cocktails round out the bar offering. The Village Social will also offer tapas-style dining with cheese and charcuterie boards available for a nibble. Those stopping by in the evenings will be treated with live music ranging from acoustic, funk, jazz and blue and roots musicians. For opening hours and contact details head to the Stumble Guide.
