The Spaghettihouse Trattoria opens in West End

Calls of buon giorno, buon appetito and grazie ring about The Spaghettihouse Trattoria as you enter, and the jovial atmosphere is contagious. Known for Greek locale Char Char Yiros on the corner of Boundary and Russell Streets in West End, owner Andrew Michael has stationed himself in the kitchen as head chef at The Spaghettihouse Trattoria.

Presented with a paper menu of plentiful choices, your eye is drawn immediately to the page’s worth of pasta, which comes with your preference of spaghetti, linguine, fettuccine, pappardelle, penne or gluten-free spaghetti and fettuccini. An array of decadent risotto, gnocchi and lasagne dishes also appeals, with bruschetta, charcuterie and salads to start, meaty mains to follow smaller pasta servings, and classic desserts like tiramisu, panna cotta and gelato to close. In true Italian style, bread sticks, olives and giardinetto (cured vegetables) will be brought to the table at dinner, no charge, while vegetarians, vegans and the gluten-intolerant are all catered to throughout the menu.

Floor-to-ceiling wine racks at front of the intimate restaurant hold grapes from many regions, including Sicily, Sardinia and Tuscany. European light fittings hang overhead, while gold-rimmed mirrors displaying the specials line opposing walls, with seating split between a long share table and smaller sets. Bringing the classic flavours of Italy to West End, The Spaghettihouse Trattoria sees both takeaway and dine-in options, and is licensed and BYO.
