The Spaghetti House Trattoria reopens in South Bank

Occupying a sun-drenched corner position in South Bank, The Spaghetti House Trattoria is dishing up classic Italian fare in a laidback setting.

If you’ve been pining for a plate of The Spaghetti House Trattoria’s hearty Italian meatballs or a mountain of spaghetti marinara, rest assured the beloved Italian institution is back – and it’s brought its signature dishes with it. Bathing in sunshine on the corner of Little Stanley and Grey Streets, the new venue opened late last month following the closure of its West End premises in January. Bouquets of fresh herbs, flowers and scented candles accompany plates of rustic Italian fare on the tables, lending the space a welcoming, homely atmosphere.

New owner Claire Parviz has retained the core kitchen crew, including head chef Andrew Michael, who is continuing to cook up The Spaghetti House Trattoria favourites like figs wrapped in prosciutto with gorgonzola fondue. Pizza, pasta and risotto dishes are accompanied by chef’s specials such as the mainstay Moreton Bay bugs with fresh cherry tomatoes, chilli and basil. In addition to lunch and dinner, aperitivo hour has also been introduced to the venue, inviting South Bank strollers to stop by for a Negroni or Aperol spritz and a bar snack. Graze on prawn risotto arancini, deep-fried stuffed olives or tender calamari, while kicking back Venetian-style. Wine expert David Bone has curated a sophisticated mix of Italian and Australian drops, with the trattoria expecting liquor licence approval this week.
