Get gourmet jarcakes delivered to your desk with The Mason Baker

When deliveries arrive at work for you, it’s pretty damn exciting. Sure, flowers are sweet. It’s thrilling when your latest ASOS package arrives. But imagine the joy one experiences when they get a gourmet jarcake delivered to their desk. Yeah, you read correctly. A cake. In a jar. Delivered. To you.

While travelling through the United States, 24-year-old James Willis discovered a gourmet jarcake delivery service. Realising there was nothing like it in Brisbane (but we do love desserts, let’s be honest), he was inspired to bring a similar idea home. He soon teamed up with e’cco bistro’s Philip Johnson to create The Mason Baker, a gourmet treat delivery service that launched online this Monday April 4. Deliciously decadent cakes with unique toppings are housed inside a glass jar then shipped nationwide, with same-day delivery for Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. Taking on the title of head flavour guru, Philip worked closely with James to craft recipes for the perfect cakes using natural ingredients and no preservatives, which were then workshopped around various toppings and flavours.

The concept is simple. Choose your flavours (the cakes are shipped in boxes of four, six, 12 and 24), write a message, pick the destination (can be anywhere in Australia) and it will be delivered soon after. The Mason Baker’s current flavours include peanut butter, salted caramel, sticky date pudding, raspberry red velvet and gluten-free carrot and candied pecan. Each cake is freshly baked then stacked inside the jar, separated by decadent icing and topped with a variety of treats. As each cake is sealed inside the jar, it allows them to stay fresh for up to 10 days without refrigeration … which means you can definitely order a few cakes to see you through the week.
