The Baker’s Arms opens in Woolloongabba

The Baker’s Arms cafe in Woolloongabba is reaching out and inviting Brisbane in for a steaming cup of Campos coffee and a freshly baked bite.

The hollow left by an old factory in Woolloongabba has been filled with the scent of homebaked goods, the whirr of Mazzer coffee grinders and the buzz of bodies as eager guests pop in for a spot of breakfast, lunch and anything in between. Sun streaks through yawning windows as the cheeky wallpaper warrants a second look and the green tiles of The Baker’s Arms counter lure in locals for a hit of caffeine.

The original brick wall at the back of the cafe guards the buzzing hive of chefs who dish up daily delights like spelt raspberry friands, chocolate beetroot cake and rhubarb tart. The cabinet also boasts savoury lunch options, including a quinoa, millet and red lentil veggie pattie, a raw green salad and a hearty beef, port and thyme pie. But the focus here is on the specialty coffee, with the La Marzocco machine having its way with Campos Superior and Organic Espresso blends, and several single origins available for pour-over and cold-drip. Co-owners Jesse Holt, Louise Cranston and Eugene Phua have created a cosy vibe in a unique space, where quality takes centre stage.
