Market favourite The Bagel Boys opens first Brisbane store

The nostril-tingling aroma of freshly baked bagels is now filling Adelaide Street from dawn to dusk, as a new breakfast and lunch pit-stop has been opened by local market legends, The Bagel Boys.

When the doors to The Bagel Boys’ new Bagel Bar swing open at 6:30 am each morning, you’ll spy Brisbane City workers and local residents scurrying inside to get cosy with traditional kettle-boiled bagels and a coffee machine purring with Black Sheep Coffee. After cementing a loyal fanbase at markets around Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast over the past three years, The Bagel Boys – aka Ian Taylor and Ben Hart – have now opened their first storefront. Bagels are mixed, rolled, boiled and baked using traditional methods at the bakery headquarters in Newstead seven days a week, while premium fillings are sourced from Tewantin Meats and all sauces and condiments are made in-house.

The baked beauties are available naked by the bag or filled with wholesome trimmings to eat in or take away. Dig in to the self-serve chests to take your pick of bagel flavours like cinnamon and raisin, blueberry, soy and linseed, jalapeno and gluten-free chia, before selecting your ‘schmear’ such as avocado or cream cheese blended with honey, and extras including crispy bacon, salami and smoked chicken. Alternatively, let The Bagel Boys do the thinking for you and choose from the extensive menu of filling combinations on offer. Traditional market favourites like the Smoked Salmon Classic, the Reuben and the bacon, rocket, avocado and tomato BRAT with aioli stand alongside new store additions like the Dad’s Army of jalapeno and salami with roast capsicum, rocket and tomato chilli relish, and the tandoori chicken bursting with fresh lettuce, lemon, coriander, mint yoghurt and mango chutney. Keep an eye out for the ‘bagel of the month’ (hello, choc-chip) as well as weekly specials.

If the city is out of your reach, head to these local stockists or regular markets to get your Bagel Boys fix. For Bagel Bar contact information and trading hours, check out our Stumble Guide.
