A teacher inspires students to grow green in the South Bronx

A motivated and passionate teacher may very well leave an indelible impact on his students, but Stephen Ritz from the South Bronx is also leaving a positive impact on the landscape. The teacher enlisted his students – many of whom are homeless, living below the poverty line and have disabilities – to build an edible, vertical wall in their classroom. The project soon gained momentum, eventually spreading to the surrounding communities, feeding students and residents, and attracting attention around the world. Listen to Stephen share his story in his TEDxManhattan talk, A Teacher Growing Green in the South Bronx.
