Spring round-up: Brisbane’s newest juice and smoothie stores

When the sticky Brisbane weather gets you hot under the collar and a liquid lunch is the only cure, check out our wrap-up of the newest juice and smoothie stores set to open in Brisbane.

Those who have felt the wrath of a full-blown Brisbane summer understand the desperate thirst that comes as an inevitable side effect. For the days when the throat croaks and your thirst is seemingly insatiable, a hit of refreshing liquid gold will be a welcome remedy. Thirsty punters in Brisbane City, New Farm, Newstead, Paddington, Woolloongabba and Mount Gravatt will all soon be treated to the opening of six Liquefy Juice Co stores across Brisbane, plus one in Burleigh Heads, offering up bottled, organic, cold-pressed juices, smoothies and raw foods and desserts. The first outlet at Mount Gravatt is expected to open in early October, but practise a little extra patience and all stores should be up and running by the first week of December. You’ll also soon be able to order the juices online for next-day home or office delivery. The flagship Liquefy store on Wyandra Street in Newstead will offer up the full range of offerings, while the Mount Gravatt shop is flagged as Australia’s first 24-hour juice and superfood bar and the Eagle Street location will offer single-origin coffee and plenty of grab-and-go options for time-pressed city workers. If your belly rumbles at the thought of a chia seed parfait, vanilla coconut bliss ball or kale and apple green juice, you can prep your tastebuds with a peek at Liquefy’s food and drink menus online.

However, if patience isn’t your strong point and your thirst needs sating this weekend, you can head to two new Raw Juicery outlets on Oxford Street, Bulimba and inside Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, which have joined the Brisbane City cafe. Grab a healthy pick-me-up such as a Queenslander juice of beetroot, pineapple, carrot and orange, a raw smoothie of kiwifruit, pineapple, red papaya and cinnamon, or a Supreme Roasters coffee to really get the heart started. Those in a hurry have plenty of takeaway options to choose from, such as raw desserts, snacks, coconut water and acai bowls.

Tucked inside a corner of Commercial Road Antiques in Teneriffe, sweet new cafe Press’d is also serving nutritious tonics, healthy snacks and vegan, dairy-, egg-, wheat- and gluten-free desserts. The cafe opened two weeks ago and started pouring organic, cold-pressed juices and smoothies just last week, with a full food menu expected in October. Enjoy a Teneriffe Tango smoothie of banana, mango, passionfruit and coconut water, a fresh juice of celery, cucumber, spinach, kale, orange and ginger, or invent your own blend.

Alternatively, Sydney’s handcrafted cold-pressed Botanica juices are also making their way into local Brisbane outlets. Check out Primal Pantry in Teneriffe, Espresso Republic in Brisbane City and soon Fonzie Abbott in Fortitude Valley for a hit of green goodness.
