Transform squash from So Crisp at Brisbane Produce Market into tangles of spaghetti

Recently vegetable spaghetti, particularly of the zucchini variety, is the new version of pasta on many health conscious menus. Not requiring cutting or grating, spaghetti marrow or squash can magically be transformed into a bowl full of pasta-like goodness.

Intrigued? Spaghetti marrow can be found at So Crisp at the Brisbane Produce Market in Rocklea, and the magic happens when you cook the vegetable. Once cooked, the flesh of the marrow starts to resemble spaghetti or noodles. It can be microwaved, baked or boiled and once the seeds are removed you will be able to scoop out the rest of the flesh and watch it miraculously turn into spaghetti-like strands whilst cooking. No spiralisers or special gadgets required.

Tasting much like zucchini, the spaghetti squash can be treated just like pasta or noodles, absorbing the flavour of the dish or sauce added to it. There are many recipes out there that demonstrate how to prepare this amazing vegetable. Try spinach and artichoke spaghetti squash, spaghetti squash with mushrooms and parmesanThai peanut spaghetti squash or buffalo chicken spaghetti squash the next time pasta cravings strike.

Brisbane Produce Market has public entry from 10:00–11:30 am on Thursdays and Fridays.
