Fish and chips made fancy at West End’s new Sea Fuel

This family-run restaurant at the base of West End’s Glass Factory is setting a new standard in seafood – bringing top-tier fish and a modern dining atmosphere to the area.

Sea Fuel’s owner Andrew Skordou has been running various fish and chip restaurants for more than 30 years, so it’s safe to say he knows his seafood. After operating venues such as Fish on Fire, Kiss My Fish and Get Fished, Andrew and his family decided to open up something closer to their West End home. Sea Fuel is the new fish’n’chippery located on street level of the Glass Factory, boasting a modern industrial fit out with help from Vizion Shopfitters. Cosy booths, rustic tables and chairs and a few fishy decorations adorn the space, with a crisp bar and fish cabinet at the fore to entice foot traffic along Vulture Street. Andrew sought to create a space that was inviting to locals and visitors to the area, with a well-priced menu of restaurant-quality fare that blows away the competition.

More than your local takeaway joint, Sea Fuel sets itself apart by only serving the best fish sourced sustainably from Australia and New Zealand. Andrew also employs specialist fish and chip cookers who know how to bring out the best in Sea Fuel’s product. The menu caters to dine-in and takeaway eaters, with a selection of nine fish varieties including Patagonian toothfish, Cone Bay barramundi, Petuna ocean trout, and sea perch in addition to favourites such as calamari, prawn cutlets, octopus, fresh oysters and prawns. Groups can order platters and share plates that include barbecue king prawn skewers and homemade Thai fish cakes. Lunch options range from fish burgers, spanakopita and grilled haloumi. All fish, chips and salads are gluten free, meaning no one needs to miss out on a fine fishy feast. The bar stocks a range of Australian and imported beers as well as wines from Australia, New Zealand, Italy and France. For contact details and opening hours, head to the Stumble Guide.
