Jump aboard the Pineapple Express at Portside Wharf

Here at The Weekend Edition, we love the idea of an endless summer. Rolling in just in time to wash those winter blues away is Pineapple Express, Portside’s sunshiny new superfood cafe.

With a name like Pineapple Express, you could hardly expect the cafe to be lacklustre. As you round the corner at Portside Wharf, a vibrant yellow custom surfboard points you in the right direction to Pineapple Express, with its blue-and-white-striped awning and wide open windows beckoning you inside. Tufts of greenery sprout from planters and hanging baskets, and brightly coloured pineapples of all sizes can be found everywhere from the custom doorknob to shelves and countertops.

The cafe focuses on healthy and wholesome food, ensuring that it doesn’t sacrifice taste in the process. The counter is brimming with fresh and colourful salads, freshly made wraps and an assortment of raw, gluten-free, dairy-free, raw sugar-free and soy-free sweet treats. Expect the guilt-free goodies such as raw top deck slice, paleo balls and mini carrot cupcakes in the mix. On the menu you’ll find breakfast options such as protein pancakes with mixed berries, manuka honey, Coyo and bee pollen, or eggs benedict with matcha sauce. There is also a range of healthy-yet-decadent smoothies, fresh juices and acai bowls, plus Pineapple Express has because the second Brisbane venue to offer Cocowhip, with flavours including The Tim Tam, Death By Chocolate and Apple Crumble.
