NOLA Portside brings a taste of the Deep South to Hamilton

Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Louisiana when Portside Wharf’s newest venue flings open its doors tomorrow, Friday June 26.

The magnificent minds behind The Crosstown Eating House in Woolloongabba, The Hyde Out Bar & Eatery in Yeronga and Brisbane’s six Brother Espresso cafes have now hatched up a new venue, this time bringing a taste of the Deep South to the Brisbane dining scene. NOLA Portside – an acronym for New Orleans Louisiana – boasts a mouth-watering share menu, American craft beers and whisky-based cocktails.

A heritage chandelier watches over the spacious restaurant, which invites guests to park their behinds in a cosy armchair, at a bench table or in the protected dining area out the front. Live music and vibrant artworks recreate that buzzing New Orleans atmosphere, while the punchy fare on the plates completes the experience. The unique blend of Cajun, French, African, Native American, Creole and Spanish influences found on menus in Louisiana has made its way to the Hamilton venue, where you’ll find po’boys and pulled pork boudin balls sitting comfortably alongside plantation gumbo ya ya, shrimp étouffée and dirty fries with braised brisket and double-smoked bacon. Order up a feast of plates to share and wash it all down with a classic sazerac, Ramos gin fizz or an American craft brew.

NOLA Portside will be celebrating its launch with July 4 celebrations next weekend – swing by on Saturday July 4 for live music from Herb Armstrong, the grandson of jazz legend Louis Armstrong, signature cocktails and a special menu.
