Navala Churrascaria opens at Riverside Quarter
Carnivores, rejoice. Your meat-related prayers have been answered and they come in the form of a massive 300-seat Brazilian barbecue restaurant opening tomorrow.
No matter how well you think you’ve triumphed over the Aussie barbecue, the two custom-made Brazilian beauties grilling the goods at Brisbane’s new Navala Churrascaria will have you hanging up your tongs with pleasure. Tomorrow, Friday June 20, will see the massive wood and charcoal pits fired up at the riverside Brazilian barbecue-house, where prime cuts of meat and mouth-watering condiments await. Emulating ancient cooking techniques, the external and internal barbecues are set to work their magic on giant skewers of meat, which are slow-cooked for eight to 12 hours and sliced at the table in front of hungry patrons.
Joining Jellyfish Restaurant, Black Bird Bar & Grill and Baba Ganouj at Brisbane City’s Riverside Quarter on Eagle Street, Navala Churrascaria is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Chill out in the lounge area with a South American cocktail or draught beer, or take a seat inside the restaurant for an all-out meat feast. Co-owner Daniel Fujimoto brings experience from running successful churrascarias in Sydney while head chef/co-owner David King proffers his talents in the kitchen. Boasting prime cuts of meat and high-end spirits, these two lads certainly take the humble Brazilian barbecue up a notch.
Those with a hearty appetite can sink their fangs into the unlimited ‘rodizio’ degustation, which offers more than 22 different meats from the skewer rotisserie and ground fire pit, 14 tapas dishes and an assortment of salads and sauces. Slow-roasted JBS Friboi grain-fed beef ribs, Gippsland Great Southern Lamb forequarters and whole suckling pigs can be topped with your pick of habanero mustard, Brazilian chilli and housemade chipotle barbecue sauce. Round off the Brazilian banquet with manjar de coco coconut mousse with passionfruit and tapioca, a nega maluca chocolate brownie with guava and Brazilian pinenut, or a simple cup of Toby’s Estate coffee. Whether your eyes are glued to the sweeping river views or the live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings, families and groups will revel in the buzzing Brazilian atmosphere right in the heart of the CBD.
