New Farm gets sweeter thanks to Miss Claudes Crepes & French Cafe

After earning a reputation for making the best crepes in Brisbane, Naima Hughes and Justin Knudson of Miss Claudes Crepes have upped the ante with a new cafe in New Farm.

For more than three years Miss Claudes Crepes have been satisfying dessert cravings from market stalls around Brisbane. From beginnings at the Eagle Farm Markets to currently wow-ing tastebuds at Eat Street Markets, Naima and Justin have turned crepes from a tasty passion into a full-blown dessert enterprise. Due to an overwhelmingly positive response from market punters, the duo decided to try their hand at expanding Miss Claudes to include an inviting cafe space. Boasting a mind-boggling selection of sweet and savoury crepes, Miss Claudes Crepes & French Cafe sits on the corner of Brunswick Street and Merthyr Road, just a short stroll to Merthyr Village. The space has been overhauled with new timber furnishings and Parisian murals, with a kitchen capable of prepping for the cafe and for the busy Eat Street stall.

The menu includes breakfast crepes including a crepe Benedict galette, Canadian crepes topped with bacon and maple syrup and a healthy start crepe filled with Greek yoghurt, granola, strawberries and banana. The extensive range of sweet crepes boast flavours such as banoffee, apple cinnamon pie, nutella and salted caramel-filled varieties and crepes suzette, which is flambéed with Grand Marnier in an orange caramel sauce. Savoury crepes include meat and vegetarian options, with more than a dozen choices on offer. Highlights include the Monte Carlo with chicken, cheese, caramelised onion and aioli, the St Tropez topped with bacon, chicken, spring onion, béchamel and BBQ sauce and the Seafood Mornay. All crepes can be made gluten-free at no extra cost. Miss Claudes Crepes and French Cafe also serves tasty coffee from local roaster Esprosini in addition to juices, smoothies and milkshakes.
