Savour autumn flavours at Little Stanley Street

As each day brings us ever so slightly towards winter and the change of the seasons provides a bounty of new produce, the passionate chefs behind our favourite Brisbane cafes have been tweaking their culinary offerings. South Bank’s Little Stanley Street is full of autumn-inspired delights, from breakfast through to dinner.

On a cool, grey morning, the tiny hole-in-the-wall hangout of Espresso Garage will warm bellies with breakfast dishes like warm, buttery croissants and creamy avocado spread on thick-cut turkish toast. A dash across to Flowers of The World sees a lunchtime menu full of wholesome, seasonal dishes based on organic and fair-trade ingredients, including savoury pastries, freshly-baked quiches and lentil fritters. Further along Little Stanley Street, Greystone Bar & Cellar is wooing palates through autumn with creations such as seasonal crumbed whiting fillets with citrus mayonnaise and lemon sauce, as well as sumptuous share platters loaded with cheeses, quince paste, sultanas, pistachio nuts and pepper crackers.

Meanwhile, South Bank’s Olé has dreamt up autumn-inspired raciones such as pan-fried scallops, squid and chorizo, and potato tortillas with capsicum, zucchini and tomato, to accompany jugs of white or red sangria. When you dine and spend $10 or more at a participating Little Stanley cafe, restaurant or bar on weekdays during autumn you’ll go in the draw to win a month-long South Bank experience, including daily coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner for two each week, tickets to a QPAC show, a Wheel of Brisbane ride for four people, and your own secure car park for a month. Check the website for participating venues.
