On a cool, grey morning, the tiny hole-in-the-wall hangout of Espresso Garage will warm bellies with breakfast dishes like warm, buttery croissants and creamy avocado spread on thick-cut turkish toast. A dash across to Flowers of The World sees a lunchtime menu full of wholesome, seasonal dishes based on organic and fair-trade ingredients, including savoury pastries, freshly-baked quiches and lentil fritters. Further along Little Stanley Street, Greystone Bar & Cellar is wooing palates through autumn with creations such as seasonal crumbed whiting fillets with citrus mayonnaise and lemon sauce, as well as sumptuous share platters loaded with cheeses, quince paste, sultanas, pistachio nuts and pepper crackers.

Meanwhile, South Bank’s Olé has dreamt up autumn-inspired raciones such as pan-fried scallops, squid and chorizo, and potato tortillas with capsicum, zucchini and tomato, to accompany jugs of white or red sangria.
