Dine on sushi and sake at new Kokoro Bistro in Paddington

A swift change of hands over the festive season saw Italian restaurant Vio’s at Iceworks transformed into new Japanese restaurant, Kokoro Bistro.

The creation of Korean-born chef Hyan Chang Lee, Kokoro Bistro sees the same wooden wall panelling and oriental murals frame the space as at the Lee family’s vibrant South Brisbane restaurant, Kokoro Bento. Fresh Japanese delicacies are perfectly poised on crisp white plates, like the assorted sashimi of tuna, salmon, kingfish, scallop and tamagoyaki with lemon, wasabi and rice noodles.

Precisely rolled parcels of sushi offer a light lunch, while the Beef Nimono of sweet soy sauce-braised short rib, slow-cooked radish, apple compote, carrot jelly, crispy leek and chickpea garlic mousse is rich with flavour. Green Tea Ice-cream Fritters and Avocado Macarons grace the dessert menu, and there’s a bento box for lunchtime. Kokoro Bistro is licensed, serving an array of sake, wine and beer, with BYO corkage $10 per bottle as well.
