Allison Macintyre is the owner and operator of the chic and minimalist Teneriffe cafe, KIN + Co. After working in Brisbane’s hospitality scene at popular spots such as Little Loco and Raw Paw Paw before that, Allison garnered considerable knowledge and inspiration for her own eventual cafe. Once a space became available on Macquarie Street, Allison jumped at the chance to turn her ideas into reality, fitting out the space with fresh new furniture and top of the line equipment. KIN + Co boasts outdoor seating and air-conditioned interior seating, with a coffee window always open for grab-and-go commuters. Preferring a classic style, Allison ensured that the minimalist and clean approach was reflected in each aspect of the cafe, from furniture to branding to the plating of the food.

KIN + Co serves all-day breakfast with an extensive range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Even the menu’s simple staples such as the breakfast bagel and the avocado on sourdough boast scrumptious twists. The avocado is topped with pickled fennel, radish and mustard seeds, while the mushroom bagel boasts rocket, smoked cheddar cheese and Sriracha mayo. Stand out options are the shakshuka, the sautéed greens and quinoa and the French toast, which boasts torched bananas, crème patisserie and salted caramel sauce. Allison has chosen Cleanskin coffee as the java of choice, with rotating single origins on offer every week.
