Situated in an inconspicuous arcade off Sherwood Road is a smart and fresh cafe that has gone to great lengths to source the finest coffee and a few choice food offerings for locals to enjoy.

Matt Roggenkamp knows a thing or two about coffee, as evidenced from his work with popular Kenmore cafe The Single Guys. Believing that every suburb deserves a local coffee joint that offers quality artisanal fare, Matt set his sites on opening a new location in the heart of Toowong. Josie North can be found hidden within Clements Arcade, an unassuming offshoot strip on Sherwood Road near Toowong Village – close enough to transport hubs but removed from the hustle and bustle of the intersection. The hip locale boasts a crisp, clean space designed by Woodster’s Oliver Burscough with a few communal tables and bench seating for those looking to take a load off while they enjoy a cup of coffee and a snack.

Josie North is a coffee lovers dream with a selection of delicious roasts from Sydney and Melbourne, though the selection is also approachable to those who prefer to stick with their personal favourites. Matt has secured beans from roasters such as Seven Seeds and Small Batch from Melbourne and Reuben Hills from Sydney. Josie North will constantly be rotating through the best beans that its suppliers have to offer, so be sure to check in regularly to see what is on offer. Josie North also serves filter coffee, which is perfect for those looking for a more refined and delicate taste plus milk from Maleny Dairies and bonsoy. Non-coffee drinkers are catered for with tea options and specialty hot chocolate from Mork. The coming weeks will see Josie North offer a stripped back but inexpensive food offering consisting of all-day breakfast bites like grilled cheese with pickles and onion jam and cinnamon oatmeal with almonds and rhubarb and ginger compote, as well as chicken or pastrami sandwiches for lunch. If you are keen to grab and go, you can purchase Gramercy donuts and croissants from Crust & Co to enjoy with your coffee.
