Gypsies Wagon bar rolls in to Gaythorne

Gypsies Wagon combines a hole-in-the-wall bar aesthetic with a Latin-American diner style twist, creating a cozy suburban locale right in the heart of Brisbane’s northside.

The suburbs are becoming cooler each month with the increasing amount of cafes and bars opening in Brisbane’s oft overlooked nooks and crannies. Gypsies Wagon is one of the latest boutique bars to emerge – this time in the heart of Gaythorne – introducing a night-time dinner and drinks option for the residents of the northern suburb and surrounds.

Locals may already be familiar with Gypsies Wagon’s neighbour, the Hansell & Gretel Espresso Bar and its owners, Steve and Corinne. After recently traveling to South America, both Steve and Corinne returned with a taste for the flavours of the region and the idea for a relaxed yet edgy establishment was born.

Serving up craft beer, and top-shelf whiskeys and bourbons, Gypsies Wagon also serve up many Latin-American flavours including Argentinian wines and specially crafted cocktails. On the nibbles side, the Gypsies Wagon kitchen dishes up wonderful wings, burgers, ribs and meatballs for patrons to sink their chompers into.

The Gypsies Wagon’s atmosphere is top notch thanks to a carefully cultivated coziness. Soft lighting, comfortable furniture and tasteful decoration make the venue feel like a room in your own house (Gypsies Wagon even have board games). This delightful bar regularly opens Friday to Sunday each week from 12:00 pm to late, and has recently begun operating on Thursdays for special events from 5:00 pm.
