Brisbane welcomes wine-tasting event Game of Rhones

Brisbane’s newest wine-tasting event, Game of Rhones, will fill the halls of Fortitude Valley’s Lightspace this Sunday June 8.

Launching in Melbourne last year, Game of Rhones has become a popular event on the wine-tasting calendar, with more than 40 of Australia’s grape producers and a handful of New Zealand growers in competition for the title of King of the Grapes. Brisbane’s event will see wine producers Torbreck, Teusner, Seppelt and Grant Burge from Barossa Valley, as well as Voyager Estate from the Margaret River, pouring some of their finest drops, while grape varieties from the Rhone Valley in France including shiraz, grenache, mourvèdre, carignan, cinsault, viognier, marsanne and roussanne will also be available to taste.

In keeping with the television phenomenon Game of Thrones theme, guests can vote for the best-dressed winemaker, partake in blindfolded tastings in the Lightspace ‘torture chamber’ and vote for their favourite drops and growing regions. Hearty fare from Statler & Waldorf will be on offer, providing much-needed nourishment throughout the evening and keeping the belly rumbles at bay. You can purchase your Game of Rhones ticket online, which includes a Riedel Ouverture Magnum wine glass to fill during the evening.
