Fonzie Abbott opens second edition in Fortitude Valley

Hamilton locale Fonzie Abbott Espresso has expanded its bases to open a second edition in Fortitude Valley. Perched on the corner on Brunswick and Harcourt Streets where Home Ground Espresso used to be, Fonzie Abbott Espresso has transformed the space with the signature Fonzie rustic industrial style.

The fit-out is akin to the Hamilton cafe, with recycled and upcycled wood a feature. The team has made as much of the furniture as it could, the rustic elements contrasted by new copper light fixtures, tall black stools and succulents dotted here and there.

Coffee is the focus of this corner haunt, using a mix of house and single-origin hand-roasted beans. Upon your visit, you’ll probably find Rocky Peng behind the coffee machine, who not only crafts a mean coffee, but has a wicked memory for remembering faces and coffee orders. At the moment, there are croissants and muffins to nibble on with the food licence still on its way, which will add light eats similar to the Hamilton cafe’s offerings to the menu.

A retail component sees Chemex and plunger equipment line the shelves, along with brown bags of ground beans to enjoy at home. A selection of t-shirts, button-ups and handmade leather wallets from local motorcycle maven Ellaspede also feature, bringing a lifestyle element of bikes and coffee together under one roof. Fonzie Abbott still roasts its own beans at Hamilton, but the roastery component will be hopping suburbs to Albion, meaning a third installment with adjoining espresso bar to open soon. All coffees are $3 at the moment as an opening special.
