If the queue snaking along Alfred Street and the luscious aromas floating from new hole-in-the-wall Doughnut Time isn’t enough indication – Fortitude Valley’s first one-man doughnut stand has opened! The delicious brainchild of Brisbane restaurateur Damian Griffiths, Doughnut Time joins Alfred & Constance, Alfredo’s Pizzeria, Kwan Brothers, Chester Street Bakery and Bar and Limes Hotel Rooftop Bar and Cinema in the popular family of Brisbane venues. While enthusiastic earlybirds could hoe into a strawberry glazed doughnut and ice-cream burger from A&C over the past couple of weeks, doughnut loyalists can finally get their artisan, preservative-free fix from the new stand from 8:00 am today, Thursday February 12.

Standing in the lime-green alcove between Alfredo’s Pizzeria and Kwan Brothers on Alfred Street, Doughnut Time is dishing out doughnuts from 8:00 am until sold out Tuesday through to Saturday. Wrap your mitts around the glazed or cream-filled beauties, which will rotate flavours but may include traditional vanilla or chocolate, pistachio and brown butter, raspberries and cream, maple and bacon, Nutella topped with cinnamon sugar, lemon cheesecake, rainbow Nerds, salted caramel and popcorn, or crème brulee. The treats are prepared in small batches each morning at sister venue Chester Street and are available from Doughnut Time’s tiny window, along with hot coffee and cold drinks. The Doughnut Time Van will also be hitting the streets soon – keep an eye on The Weekend Edition for updates.
