Station Road Dining welcomes Corbett & Claude
More than 100 years ago, Corbett Chambers was known as the go-to meeting place for commercial travellers in Brisbane. Groups would gather with friends and fellow adventurers before travelling to isolated towns, sharing stories and meals with a drink in hand.
The Corbett Chambers bar and dining hall was part of the Commercial Travellers Association, sitting at 283 Elizabeth Street in Brisbane City. Corbett & Claude will soon be moving into the old building, drawing inspiration from the space’s history to create a modern meeting place to share in good food and drinks. While the Brisbane City venue won’t be open until September 16, the team has opened the first Corbett & Claude at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre’s Station Road Dining precinct. The breezy open-walled venue welcomes diners to perch on distressed-leather stools at the high communal tables, or take a seat at one of the more intimate round tables. Walking up to the long tiled bar you will quickly spy an impressive 12-tap system, which pours craft beer – including Corbett & Claude’s own house lager – and a selection of wines, as well as a wide range of spirits and colourful cocktails.
Much like the old dining hall, Corbett & Claude’s focus is on shared food done well. Small plates include grilled haloumi with peach and muscatel chutney, and pan-fried gnocchi with house-made pesto, which can be paired with a wide range of pizzas, such as special meatballs with caramelised onion, crispy prosciutto and barbecue sauce, or grilled prawns with rocket and chilli jam. Meat and cheese lovers can build their own charcuterie board with a selection of accompaniments – you’ll drool over the choices of artisan cheese and fancy cured meats. One thing you may not want to share though is dessert – treat yourself with waffles topped with toasted honey ice-cream, salted caramel and honeycomb, or Nutella and strawberry dessert pizza.
