Carolina Kitchen, Coorparoo

Traditional American food worth the trip at Carolina Kitchen, Coorparoo

Ensconced in southern American greatness, Carolina Kitchen at Coorparoo has built up a busy clientele of sticky-ribs lovers who like to get pleasurably messy.

Riding the American food wave, Carolina Kitchen serves up rich soul foods like original hot buffalo wings with a blue-cheese sauce paired with shoestring New York Fries topped with cheese, sour cream and homemade chilli sauce – the likes of which haven’t been seen in Brisbane since food chain New York Fries disappeared. But the prize meal goes out to Aunt Lilly Mae’s BBQ Ribs – slow cooked and dripping in the Carolina Kitchen special BBQ sauce, the meat falls off the bone, with the sticky wetness leaving you reaching for many a napkin.

Try the corn bread as a side and wrap the whole experience up with one of the homemade pies. From key lime to peach cobbler and pecan to pumpkin pie, these after-dinner creations are available by the slice or as a whole to take home for the family. While the ambience is minimalist, this classic diner promises fast, casual, calorific eats accompanied by sugary favourites Dr Pepper and Grape Fanta, indulging your every ‘hands-on’ grease food whim.
