Cake & Bake delivers divine deliciousness to West End

Jocelyn Hancock has returned to Brisbane’s baked goods scene with a brand new shop, offering quality cakes, treats and high quality artisanal goods.

The name Jocelyn Hancock might be familiar to those that have purchased a delicious treat from Jocelyn’s Provisions on James Street and although Jocelyn sold the business a few years ago, her reputation as one of the best bakers in Brisbane remains strong. After considering starting a small business making fruit preserves at home, Jocelyn became driven by the idea of cooking again on a larger scale and decided to bite the bullet and jump back into the scene with Cake & Bake, a new store in West End. Choosing to return to her roots that date back 20 years, the West End space stocks a range of goods that are made simply with good ingredients. Jocelyn has brought Didier Richeaux onboard to help helm the sizeable kitchen, and has created a clean space adorned with a red and white theme, with eye-catching branding emphasising the simple nature of Jocelyn’s approach to her labour intensive craft.

Cake & Bake offers a mouth-watering selection of cakes, with two sizes available. Classics such as choc hazelnut, carrot cake and red velvet are available for purchase alongside a rotating selection of other flavours. Those looking for something snack sized can indulge in a range of pastries including croissants, pain au chocolat, quiches, fruit galettes and more, as well as freshly made salads for takeaway. Shelf space is dedicated to Jocelyn’s range of slices, meringues, biscotti, relishes and preserves, incorporating ingredients from across Queensland. In addition to her own wares, goods are also sourced from providores that Jocelyn favours in her own kitchen. Salami from Salumi Australia, oak-smoked rainbow trout from Harris Smokehouse, Lirah vinegar, pickled beetroot from Farmer’s Kitchen in the Scenic Rim and Pepe Saya butter and marscapone are all available at Cake & Bake. Patrons can grab a cup of Cake & Bake’s custom coffee blend, with beans and grounds available to take away and enjoy at home. For more information, check out Cake & Bake in the Stumble Guide.
