Public’s position in the 400Food food court brings a new dynamic to its end of the CBD, with breakfast being a natural transition for the popular restaurant. Morning service is presided by Brenda Richardson, who has previously worked at Pearl and Banneton Bakery.
The new menu reflects Public’s approach to food, with its refined combinations of ingredients such as the breakfast of chorizo, smoked tomato and baked eggs. Other menu options include truffle duck egg toast with mushroom and spinach, and fruit toast with cinnamon butter and macadamia honey. The menu has been purposely kept small to ensure the best-quality ingredients can be used.
Breakfast is the one meal of the day that eschews Public’s shared-dining approach, with the decision taken to serve individual meals in order to avoid morning ‘hangry’ arguments. If, however, you’d like to share, the chefs will happily oblige. While the menu is refined and perfected, Public is only serving breakfast on weekdays from 7:00–11:00 am, but more plans are promised for the near future.
