Discover Brisbane’s best bloody marys

The holidays may almost be over, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. Champagne cocktails may have been the flavour of the festive season, but the new year has us revisiting the cocktail that’s almost a meal in itself: the bloody mary. The perfect bloody mary is an art form, and these locales take their offerings seriously.

Sling

This West End establishment is revered for its libations, and the bloody mary is no exception. The cocktail menu features six different takes on the bloody mary, including The Last Samuri Mary, which has sake, wasabi and fish sauce added to the traditional recipe, and The Cheeky Mexican Mary that has a sneaky splash of tequila.

The Kettle and Tin

Raising Sling by one, The Kettle and Tin has a menu of seven bloody mary incarnations available from morning to night, and we are betting the Holy Hellfire has more than just a wee dash of Tabasco sauce. There’s also the The Queen Mary of Scotch and The Rosa Maria.

The Meatball Company

When you are chowing down on a feast of meatballs, The Bloody Warhol is a perfect accompaniment. The Meatball Company’s take on the bloody mary is served in a Campbell’s Soup tin with your choice of either caramelised onion-infused Ketel One Vodka or meatball-fat-washed Ketel One Vodka, and is topped with pickles.

Pearl Cafe

The food may be the star at Pearl Cafe, but the drinks menu rarely disappoints either. Sip a bloody mary with your brunch or lunch order, or gather your friends, book The Servery and savour the tipple in your finest company.

The Crosstown Eating House

Sticking to the basics of vodka, tomato juice, Tabasco, lemon and Worcestershire sauce, Woolloongabba eatery The Crosstown Eating House takes a classic approach to its bloody mary recipe.
