The Weekend Series: Best Irish Pubs to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

As revellers all around the world dress up in green and pretend to be Irish for St. Patrick’s Day today, we figured it would be a good idea to compile a little list of great locations to celebrate in Brisbane. What better way to celebrate St. Paddy’s than from the cosy confines of an Irish pub?

Mick O’Malley’s, Brisbane City
One of a few spots for great Irish craic in the city is Mick O’Malley’s, located under the Wintergarden on Queen Street Mall. This St. Patrick’s Day the pub will be hosting live music from 10:00 am, plus a range of great fare from the kitchen.

Irish Murphy’s, Brisbane City
Irish Murphy’s will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day from March 12–20, with a massive line-up of live music across all dates. The bar is advertised as a haunt for professional drinking consultants – if a pint is what you are after, a pint is what you can get from this locale.

Gilhooleys, Brisbane City
Gilhooleys will be hosting a massive St. Patrick’s Day Festival today, serving its famous Irish breakfast as well as hosting live entertainment and a jug racing relay.

Finnigan’s Chin, Keperra
Located in Brisbane’s west, Finnigan’s Chin is as close to a local pub as you are like to find in Keperra – good thing too, as it boasts tremendous bistro facilities and a relaxing beer garden to enjoy a Guinness with friends.

Pig ‘n’ Whistle, Various
Although technically a British pub, no bar celebrates St. Patrick’s Day harder than the trusty Pig ‘n’ Whistle. Several locations all over Brisbane will be open for revellers to enjoy the day. Live dancers, authentic Irish far and music will be on offer at Indooroopilly, Riverside, Fortitude Valley, King George Square and West End.

Honourable Mention: Finn McCools
While not currently open to the public, this forthcoming Fortitude Valley location will be bringing a bit of Irish cheer to Brunswick Street Mall. Keep an eye out!
