Bar Alto Piedmont

Bar Alto explores Italy’s Piedmont at lunch

Snuggled up against the Alps and neighbouring France and Switzerland, Italy’s Piedmont region is known for hearty braised meats, fonduta, gorgonzola and white truffles. This region is highlighted in Bar Alto’s lunch menu for April. Each month, Bar Alto at Brisbane Powerhouse brings focus to a new region from somewhere in the world, with head chef Sajith Vengateri’s latest selection Italy’s Piedmont, letting patrons slip into a perhaps unknown pocket of the world for a few hours. Using fresh produce, the lunchtime menu on Tuesdays through Saturdays sees Risotto ai Porcini (made on porcini and other seasonal mushrooms) or the hand-cut egg pasta and chicken liver ragu for entree, while the featured mains include Brasato al Barolo (beef short ribs in red wine with buckwheat polenta) and the highly authentic Bollito Misto alla Piemontese of mixed boiled meats and traditional sauces.
