A Tale of Two Rooftops: Beijing and Hong Kong

In this short food film, The Perennial Plate compares the stories behind two rooftop farms in Beijing and Hong Kong. One farmer moved to a rooftop because of the cheaper rent, while the other had never grown anything before but wanted to try – failing miserably the first year and inventing his own fertiliser the second year, allowing his rooftop garden to flourish. The Perennial Plate publishes an online weekly documentary series focusing on socially responsible and adventurous eating from around the world, sharing the complex tales behind our global food system.  Watch more episodes here.
