Mother Courage and Her Children

The latest performance to reach QPAC is Mother Courage and Her Children, a unique twist on the original epic story by Bertolt Brecht. This new production is the result of a collaboration by Queensland Theatre Company and Queensland Performing Arts Centre, and the creative merits of artistic director Wesley Enoch and Paula Nazarski. The original story that depicts the harsh realities and ravages of war has been transformed and is now set in a post-apocalyptic desert. This Australia is ravaged by continued conflict and is the place where the cast, led by Ursula Yovich, lives. The all-indigenous cast of the new twist on Mother Courage and Her Children also focuses on themes of land ownership, mining and the Stolen Generation.
