It's Atomic

It’s Atomic

Australian scientists have made discoveries that have changed the world – now it’s time to inspire our next generation! In this hands-on workshop, children will explore the invisible microscopic world of astonishingly small atoms. They will physically feel the difference between different elements including gold, silver and hydrogen. They will interpret the Periodic Table (a kind of ‘alphabet of the universe’), work with Atomic Numbers, construct models of molecules, apply bonding theory and devise their own chemical formulas. The workshops will be led by Ian Stuart, a retired science teacher who has adapted the teaching of Atomic Theory to children. Ian has been featured on the ABC’s 7.30 Report and presented at the University of Melbourne’s Festival of Ideas.

Please note, children must be accompanied by an adult. Accompanying adults are free of charge.

Head to the Queensland Museum and Sciencentre website for a full description of the It’s Atomic workshops.
