The Pine Rivers Art Gallery has invited artists from all over South East Queensland to reinterpret the bird. The resulting exhibition is transforming the gallery into an artist’s aviary of bright and beautiful art birds.

Artists have used techniques including painting, printmaking, photography, textiles, ceramics and sculpture, to bring us birds of all shapes, sizes, styles and colours.

As a special feature of the exhibition the artists of the Queensland Spinners, Weavers and Fibre Artists – Book and Paper Group will be exhibiting a display of bird themed artist books. The bookmakers have let their imaginations fly free and created books to delight both bird and art enthusiasts.

Along with the exhibition, bird themed art activities for both children and adults will be available at the gallery giving patrons an opportunity to take their own flight of fancy.

Flights of Fancy opens on December 4 with the official opening celebration on 5 December at 6.30pm. The exhibition runs until 24 January.
