First Coat Art & Music Festival is returning for a third year from Friday May 20 – Sunday May 29. This community based event is transforming the regional city of Toowoomba into one of Australia’s largest outdoor galleries.

Ninety minutes west of Brisbane, First Coat Festival 2016 offers ten days of programmed free and ticketed events including live music performances, large-scale mural painting, site-specific art installations, a two-day creative symposium, pop up retailers & boutique bars, night time projections, dance & theatre productions, artist talks, creative workshops, interactive youth activities, art exhibitions and much more.

The homegrown festival extends on its live mural painting spectacles of previous years, targeting key infrastructure in prominent CBD locations, alongside the laneway transformations hidden throughout the heart of the city. Additionally, satellite murals will transform the surrounding regions as a lead in to May’s programmed events; showcasing how geographic setting is no obstacle to cultural adventure.

Driven by a small team of artists and advocates for change in a regional Australia, First Coat platforms the possibilities of collaboration, highlighting Toowoomba’s rich cultural environment and it’s supporters.
